The Empire State is home to more than 19 million people and every year almost a quarter of a million new babies join the population. Unfortunately, 14 percent of New York residents are walking around each day without health insurance. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's easy to find a health insurance policy to fit your specific needs and family budget.

New York Health Facts

A lack of health insurance hurts New Yorkers who aren't even here yet: 23 percent of mothers-to-be in the state did not get the prenatal care they needed. As a result, there are more than 20,300 babies born with a low birth weight each year, about 8 percent of all newborns. Another 11 percent are born prematurely and only 82 percent get the immunizations they need to stay healthy. Fifteen percent of New Yorkers between the ages of 10 and 17 are overweight and 31 percent didn't get to both the dentist and a doctor last year. The most basic of health insurance policies would take care of most of these issues with a minimal cost.

New York Health Insurance Needs

Adult New Yorkers would benefit greatly from regular health care covered by health insurance. Eight percent of adults have diabetes, almost 14 percent have asthma, 56 percent are overweight or obese and 20 percent smoke. All of these conditions can quickly add up to serious diseases and life threatening illnesses. Don't gamble with your health, get a free quote for health insurance today.
