New Mexico Health Insurance Laws

New Mexico law allows insurance companies to deny coverage if you have a health problem. Pre-existing conditions can be permanently excluded. Neither pregnancy, nor genetic information, can qualify as a pre-existing condition. There are regulations prohibiting the increase of premiums as a direct result of changes in health status. The state prohibits cancellation of your policy if you become sick.
