Individual Health Insurance in Kentucky (KY)

In Kentucky, more than 4 million Americans make their residence. Another 55,700 babies are born in the Bluegrass State each year. Unfortunately, 14 percent of Kentuckians have no health insurance whatsoever. This needn't be so. With just a few clicks, everyone in Kentucky can find the health insurance policy that is a perfect fit for their family.

Kentucky Health Statistics

Our most vulnerable citizens start their life at a disadvantage when their mothers don't get the prenatal care they need. Twenty-five percent of Kentucky's mothers-to-be are included in this number and, consequently, give birth to 4870 low birth weight babies each year, almost 9 percent of all newborns. Another 14 percent are born prematurely and in the first three years only 86 percent receive the immunizations they need to remain healthy.

Child health insurance is easy to find and affordable, too. Whether in combination with family health care plans or alone, children's health insurance is essential for Kentucky.

Kentucky law allows insurance companies to deny you coverage. Pre-existing conditions can be excluded for a maximum period of 12 months. If you had continuous coverage, you qualify for a credit toward the exclusion period. Pre-existing conditions are not allowed to be permanently written into your policy. There are a few limitations on the amount of increase allowable at the time of your policy renewal. The state prohibits cancellation of your plan if you become sick.
