Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic services the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia areas as an integrated, pre-paid health delivery system. Individual, family and Medicare Plus plans are available. A regional subsidiary of Kaiser Permanente, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic is a part of the largest non-profit HMO in the US. The doctors and hospitals of the Kaiser Group coordinate an entire range of care for their members, including all medically necessary office visits, well-child visits, lab and radiology tests, and hospital care.

While the Kaiser Permanente hospitals are non-profit, their doctors belong to for-profit groups. These groups hire only the best physicians from among the many applicants to their program.
