More than 1.4 million Americans call Idaho home and each year more than 22,500 babies are added to the population. Unfortunately, 15 percent of Idahoans do not have health insurance coverage. With the flexible range of options available in healthcare policies, there's no reason why everyone in Idaho can't join the ranks of the insured.

Idaho Health Facts and Issues

Almost 30 percent of Idaho's new mothers-to-be don't receive the prenatal care they need during pregnancy. Because of this, there are more than 1500 low birth weight babies each year, almost 7 percent of all newborns. Another 11 percent are born prematurely. And up to the age of 3, 24 percent of Idaho's children don't receive the immunizations they need.

Additionally, 10 percent of children between the ages of 10 and 17 are overweight and more than half received treatment or counseling for some type of developmental or behavioral disorder. Only 46 percent got a dental and medical checkup last year. With a basic healthcare policy, these needs and more would be taken care of.

Health Insurance Needs in Idaho

Adults, too, aren't getting the healthcare they need in Idaho. Almost 7 percent of Idahoans are diagnosed with diabetes and 12 percent have asthma. More than 58 percent are obese or overweight and only 64 percent of adults over the age of 25 got their teeth cleaned last year. Another 20 percent of Idahoans have disabilities. With a basic health insurance policy, you and your family can be covered for basic checkups and preventative visits. Get your free health insurance coverage quote today.

Idaho Health Insurance Laws

Idaho law allows insurance companies to deny you coverage. Pre-existing conditions can be excluded, but generally only for a limited period of time. If you have had coverage for 63 continuous days, you qualify for creditable coverage. Pregnancy qualifies as a pre-existing condition. There are no regulations limiting premium prices. The state prohibits cancellation of your policy if you become sick.
