Florida law allows insurance companies to deny you coverage. If you are HIPAA eligible, you are guaranteed an individual policy from a private insurer. Pre-existing conditions can be excluded but only for a maximum period of two years, unless the insurance company attaches a rider, in which case, the exclusion can be made permanent. There are no regulations limiting premium costs. The state prohibits cancellation of your policy if you become sick.
