BC/BS of ND Individual Health Plans

Personal Choice

Provides comprehensive medical coverage with a lower annual premium. Benefits are greater and easier when seeking care from a participating BCBS provider. The deductible is considered only for inpatient service, and the plan does not cover maternity services.

Personal Choice for Students

Offers comprehensive coverage to full-time students at a low annual cost. When seeking care from a participating BCBSND health care provider, benefits and ease of service are greater. Deductibles are considered for inpatient service only. Maternity coverage is not offered with this plan.

Comprehensive Major Medical

Targeted to cover the high costs related to a catastrophic accident or illness. As of 2009, there are three plans offered, each with different deductibles and coinsurance levels. Ease of service is higher and more benefits are paid when care is received from a BCBSND provider.

Blue Saver High Deductible Health Plan

Combines with a Health Savings Account (HSA) to provide a lower annual premium and better control over healthcare costs. As of 2009, there are two plans to choose from -- Blue Saver 80 and Blue Saver 100. The HSA is a tax advantaged way to pay for your annual deductible and is similar to an IRA, but for health instead of retirement.

Medicare Supplement Plans

Intended to help pay health costs that are not covered by Medicare. There is a choice of three plans, each with its own level of coverage.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota is owned by Noridian Mutual Insurance Company, a not for profit mutual insurance company.
