BC/BS of MA Individual Health Plans

HMO Blue™Direct

Provides you with a choice of primary care physician (PCP) who will direct your medical needs, its broad network of health care providers, and a comprehensive benefits package.

HMO Basic Blue Direct

Offers a lower yearly cost because of higher co-payments and no drug coverage. You still pick a primary care physician (PCP) who coordinates your care and you have discounted prescriptions through Express Scripts, Inc.

PPO Blue Direct

Provides the BCBSMA Preferred Provider Organization network, consisting of most of the best doctors and hospitals in the state. You will pay the lowest coinsurance costs by using this network.

PPO Basic Blue Direct

Offers two choices in deductibles and comes with a lower annual premium. After paying the deductible, you have no coinsurance for many covered expenses if you use the PPO network of providers. There is no prescription drug coverage, but discounted prescriptions come from Express Scripts, Inc. participating drug stores.

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)

These plans from Blue Cross of MA combine with one of the PPO Basic Blue Direct plans with their high deductibles. You open an HSA and use the pre-taxed money to pay for the deductible. Because the PPO plan is in lower cost, you save in two ways.

Blue Health Plan for Kids

The only health plan of this kind in Massachusetts and provides for the specific needs of children, including immunizations. It is a comprehensive health plan with low co-payments and low coinsurance for the BBCBS MA providers.

Medex Core

A low cost supplemental to Medicare Parts A and B, not covering Medicare deductibles and prescriptions.
