BC/BS of LA Individual Health Plans

Blue Max

Offers comprehensive major medical benefits and features several annual deductibles to choose from. Coverage in this plan is very broad. You will save when you seek care from the BCBS network of health care providers.

Blue Saver with an HSA (Health Savings Account)

Features the high deductible of the Blue Saver plan combined with the tax advantages of the HSA. Blue Saver provides a choice between two high annual deductibles. You can save even more when you seek care within the BCBS network of providers. The HSA supplies a way to deposit pre-tax money and then use it to pay your annual deductible and other allowed medical costs. Any money not used stays in the account to grow tax deferred, similar to an IRA. You can also use the money later for possible future medical needs.

Blue Value®

Offers coverage for hospital and surgical needs and comes with seven options for a yearly deductible. You will receive your highest level of benefits when receiving care from network health professionals. You may also choose Blue Saver PPO.

Blue Select™

Features a wide range of choices when you sign up. There are traditional plans or PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plans. The annual deductible has several levels to choose from. Besides the catastrophic coverage for hospital stays, surgical needs, and rehabilitation, there are wellness and preventive services included in this plan.

VIP or Variable Income Plans

Feature three options: Preferred Plan, Budget Plan, and Seniors 65-80 Plan. All are supplemental policies in which you choose a benefit level that is paid to you by the day for inpatient hospital stays.

Point of Service Plans (POS)

Available in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport and provide a wide range of coverage in an HMO format. As with all HMOs, you choose a primary care physician who manages all of your healthcare needs, but you are allowed to go to other network providers without his/her referral. For in-network providers, you have several choices of co-payments to choose from, and you will pay no yearly deductible. For out-of-network services, you will pay more out of your pocket, in addition to the yearly deductible.

These POS plans are offered by HMO Louisiana, Inc. which is wholly owned by BCBS of Louisiana. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana is an independent licensee of BCBS Association.
