Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSFL) offers a number of coverage options for families and individuals seeking non-employer sponsored health insurance. Product choices range from PPO to HMO, as well as traditional indemnity plans and short-term coverage solutions.
BCBSFL offers two PPO solutions, BlueOptions and BlueChoice, and one HMO product, BlueCare. The specific details of these plans are below.
BCBS of Florida Health Plans
BlueOptions® PPO
This PPO solution offers members the freedom to pick any doctor or hospital for care, with a suggested emphasis on in-network providers and physicians. Coverage is also available for visits to Out-of-Network providers who participate in the BCBSFL Tradional Program Network.
BlueChoice® PPO
This option provides similar coverage and in-network support to the BlueOptions PPO, often at a lower rate and without the Traditional Program Network options. Individual coverages costs vary per individual, so request more information before making a decision.
BlueCare® HMO
This HMO option provides a full range of benefits and preventive care, coupled with predictable, pre-determined costs. All care and referrals must be coordinated through an in-network Primary Care Physician, and additional features include prescription coverage, and the BlueCard® and Away From Home Care® programs.
