One of your friends or neighbors might have told you about the quality of care they’ve experienced at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and you want to find out about the company for yourself. Arkansas BCBS has delivered its expert insurance services since 1948, and is now the largest health insurance provider in the state. The company is owned by its policyholders which makes it a mutual insurance company that is non-profit and independent; its not-for-profit status means Arkansas BCBS is able to devote approximately 85 cents of every dollar on providing health care services.

There are many reasons you may need individual health insurance coverage, and Arkansas Blue Cross understands this. You may be employed where health insurance is not offered, an early retiree, a recent graduate, between jobs, self-employed, or under a set of completely different circumstances. Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield will help you find a plan to suit your needs. Arkansas BCBS is also known for its Value-Added Services at no extra costs, like health educational programs, subrogation, and discount cards.

Arkansas BC/BS Individual Health Plans

Short-Term Blue

Offers health insurance coverage through a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) network of health care providers for individuals who need insurance for only a short period of time. You have the choice on the length of coverage (from one to six months) as well as on the amount of deductible.

Blue Solution PPO

Presents a network of health care providers for health services called a Preferred Provider Organization or FirstSource (trademark). There are several levels of deductibles, coinsurance, and maximums from which to choose that will determine the annual premium.

Basic Blue

Provides essential health care coverage at a lower cost. You can choose any health care provider, although the network providers may be slightly more affordable and convenient. Coverage for office visits and prescription drugs may be added as a separate rider to the policy.

HSA Blue PPO and HSA Blue PPO Plus Plans

Both combine the services of a PPO with the Health Savings Accounts. Here, use of the extensive network of PPO health care providers can save you money. The HSA allows you to place money in these tax free accounts and use the money to pay your deductible and further use any leftover money for future health costs.

BlueCare Dental

Offers deductions on minor and major restorative services from dentists, especially those who contract with Arkansas BCBS. There are no deductibles on preventive care, and other deductibles are low.

Medi-Pak® Medicare Supplement

Provides coverage for the gaps in Medicare and comes in several benefits levels. Medi-Pak also offers many extra features, like automatic claim filing, in-home health care, drug benefits, and more.
